Tatkaar II

A different style of tatkaar which has the feet positioned behind each other with some interesting rhythms

Aamad

Advanced combinations in Teen Taal that are meant to welcome the audience to the Kathak performance

Thaat

Graceful, subtle compositions done in Vilambit lay (slow speed) of Teen Taal

Gat

Story-telling pieces that include a specific type of chal (Kathak walk) in Teen Taal

Parans and Chakradhar Tukdas

Fast, intense dance pieces that include bols (words) of the Pakhawaj (Indian instrument) in Teen Taal

Chaturang

Shivani Didi’s Gurubehen, senior student, and teacher at Gurukul performs a Chaturang on Lord Shiva, a musical composition that has 4 angas - Pada (verbal text), the bols of tarana, Sargam (solfa syllables), and finally the patas of mridangam or Pakhawaj.

Our Bollywood students show off their Jhumkas, from Sadhana all the way to Alia!

Our Semi-Classical students show the beauty of Sufi songs through the powerful voice of Abida Parveen
